Artist Spotlight - Jeffrey Chong Wang

Artist Jeffrey Chong Wang really caught my eye while I was looking through artists on Instagram. Their oil painting were beautiful and funny. His bio says: "Influenced by his relocation to Canada from his native China, Jeffrey Chong Wang’s art reflects his emotions, memories, and perception of the world around him. Wang draws on his memories to paint portraits of his family at different ages and locations and uses self-representational figures as he explores his cultural upbringing. His paintings blend humor and nostalgia in their cleverly rendered scenes, and combine classical ideas and traditional techniques to create distorted figures that reference both the history of Western oil painting and contemporary Eastern culture. He studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design University and received his MFA at the New York Academy of Art."
